Quartz glass tubes are excellent glass materials and are known as the king of glass. They have excellent low-temperature resistance and are widely used in the second and third generation of new lighting sources. Every year, 2,000 tons of quartz glass are used to produce 300 million halogen tungsten lamps, 15 million mercury lamps, and are also used to make xenon lamps, pulse lamps, atomic spectral lamps and other indispensable light sources for modern technology.
Fused silica is the amorphous (glassy) state of silicon dioxide. It is a typical glass with a long-range disordered atomic structure. It offers its high operating temperature and low coefficient of thermal expansion through three-dimensional structural cross-linking. Quartz glass is a major new material in modern scientific techniques, providing valuable materials for high-tech fields such as electric light sources, electronics, lasers, and aerospace.
Main Uses
Fused quartz is generally used as a primary raw material in industries such as refractory materials, ceramic raw materials and glass raw materials, epoxy resin casting, electronic sealing materials, electric light sources, medical care, casting, etc. It is also an ideal filler in the chemical industry for paints, coatings, and other products.
Quartz glass tubes are relatively expensive materials, so the following points should be noted when using them:
1. All types of quartz glass have a high operating temperature. Do not exceed this temperature during use, otherwise it will crystallize or soften and deform.
2. Quartz glass is an acidic material. When used at high temperatures, it should be strictly avoided from coming into contact with alkaline substances (such as sodium silicate, asbestos, potassium and sodium compounds, etc.), otherwise its anti-crystallization performance will be greatly reduced.
3. Continuous use of quartz glass products at high temperatures is beneficial for extending their lifespan and improving their heat resistance. Conversely, intermittent use of quartz glass products at high temperatures has a limited number of uses.
4. Although quartz glass has extremely high thermal stability and can withstand drastic temperature changes, in actual use, due to residual strain and different product shapes, there are certain differences in thermal stability. Attention should be paid during use.
5. Quartz glass that needs to be used at high temperatures must be wiped clean before use. It can be soaked in 10% hydrofluoric acid or detergent, then washed with high-purity water or treated with alcohol. During operation, wear fine thread gloves and do not touch the quartz glass directly with your hands.
